The Armor of God is not made up of abstract ideas, positive thinking, or feelings of emotional support. Paul is not describing spiritual concepts that are merely intended to make us feel stronger when life becomes difficult. The armor is the practical provision of God, given to His people so that we may stand faithfully in the spiritual realities we face every day.
This means the Armor of God is not something we reach for only in moments of crisis. We do not put it on when trouble comes and then set it aside when life becomes easier. It is fitted to the whole of the Christian life. The Armor is meant to shape the way we think and discern.
